With our friends from laroutedusoja in tow and the border between Georgia and Turkey crossed, we set off on a long journey by bus and train across the length of Turkey. Our journey aboard the famous Dogu Express was one of our most memorable Turkish experiences: 22 hours in a comfortable cabin with our friends, admiring the spectacular scenery, drinking Turkish tea and then Georgian chacha and wine, chatting, laughing and taking part in a 2-tonne workshop run by Victor.
A good night's sleep and a change of train later, we arrived in Istanbul.

We had been looking forward to arriving in Georgia for a long time. This stage of our journey symbolised our return to Europe, both culturally and geographically (Georgia is considered to be on both the European and Asian continents).
Not that we didn't like it, or were even fed up with Asia. But we miss home all the same, and returning to Europe is good for morale. Arriving in Georgia in such a good frame of mind, we had no choice but to love it.

Continuing our journey along the Silk Road, we arrive in Uzbekistan. Caravans used to stop here in the past, and the exchange of resources, beliefs and knowledge that took place here has shaped the country's cities. Great scientists and artists, such as the astronomer Ulugh Beg, grandson of Tamerlane, studied at Uzbekistan's renowned universities.
In Central Asia, and particularly in Uzbekistan, you can feel the legacy of past empires: Turkish, Persian, Arab and Soviet. It's a fascinating country for lovers of history, architecture, gastronomy and crafts.

Would you be able to place Kazakhstan on a map? Or describe its landscapes? Name one of its culinary specialities or one of its cities?
Before arriving in Kazakhstan, we knew nothing about the country. We imagined huge deserted areas, very few inhabitants and a nomadic culture. We weren't entirely wrong!

China: this country-continent, this radically different culture that intrigues as much as it frightens. China is not usually the destination that appears at the top of the list. And yet, a trip to China corresponds to the very definition of travel: opening up to others by putting aside your own preconceptions, discovering and facing up to a diametrically opposed culture, being amazed by the extraordinary landscapes on offer, stepping out of your comfort zone and challenging yourself.

After two unforgettable weeks in Cambodia, we're tackling our last country in South-East Asia: Laos.
We imagined Laos as a country still well preserved from mass tourism compared to its neighbours. We were looking forward to discovering this country, but at the same time we had absolutely no idea what to expect: what landscapes would we discover? what would we eat? what culture would we encounter? We invite you to join us on a journey to the heart of Laos!

We weren't struck by Cambodia's landscapes. No heavenly beaches with translucent water, no karst rock, not even lush vegetation. And yet... We fell in love with Cambodia immediately. As soon as we arrived, we felt right at home. Unlike Thailand, not everything here is dazzling or flamboyant, and yet a gentle, authentic simplicity emanates from every moment. Without knowing how to explain it, you feel good. Perhaps it's the sincere smile of the people who welcome you? With their history, their desire to share their culture with the world and their resilience, the Cambodians are a real source of inspiration.

In the first part of our preparations, we talked about how we built our itinerary from New Zealand to France.Once that itinerary was established, how did we prepare for our trip before the big day? We'll take you behind the scenes!

We arrived in Hanoi after a 48-hour bus journey from Chiang Mai in Thailand, including a crossing of Laos and two border crossings. Already tired from the journey, the city gave us no respite... Very polluted and noisy, each visit to Hanoi drained all our energy. All we wanted to do was take refuge in Vietnamese nature! And we weren't disappointed.
Northern Vietnam welcomed us with lush green landscapes, where mountains mingle with forests and rice paddies, and karst rocks are overgrown with pretty trees. The cold, rainy weather in January allowed us to discover these beautiful landscapes through the mist.

After crossing the Java Sea, Singapore and Malaysia, we finally arrived in Thailand and set down our bags on the island of Koh Yao Noi.
In eleven days, we've covered more than 3,600 km. The exhaustion of the trip was showing and we decided to recharge our batteries for a few days on the paradise islands of the Andaman Sea. Thailand had finished us off anyway!

Welcome to Indonesia, our first Asian stopover! We have the feeling that our adventure really begins here: no more extended stops, we have to reach France in only eight months!
Three weeks in Indonesia is too short, especially without a plane. The country has more than 17,000 islands, stretching over almost 2 million kilometres! Exchanges with the locals and travellers we met inspired dreams of diving in the Raja Ampat islands, discovering the authentic island of Flores, exploring the jungles and wild animals of Sumatra, having adventures in the national parks of Sulawesi, and sailing from island to island, in a sailboat, without a fixed itinerary.

Dear adventurers, How do I get to Indonesia by boat? What are the options for a no-fly destination from New Zealand? Is it possible to travel by cargo ship? And how do you find a sailboat if you have no experience?
In this newsletter, we're going to tell you how we failed to leave New Zealand to reach Indonesia by boat ;) We'll give you our tips and advice - because failures are formative!

When we chose to continue our adventure to Australia, we knew that this country would only be a stopover and that we wouldn't have time to fully appreciate its delights.
Our objective was to reach Darwin, in the very north of the island, and to look for a sailboat heading to Indonesia. We also chose to land in Sydney, the closest city to New Zealand, in order to reduce the carbon footprint of our flight...

After three months of internship, we are starting to explore the country of sheeps.
New Zealand is half the size of France and has a population 12 times smaller. So you can imagine that public transport isn't the norm here. Kiwis travel by plane or car ! So we bought a van to discover these unspoilt, sparsely populated landscapes. In winter, discovering this country far from the rest of the world is a completely different experience. With so few tourists, you feel even more isolated!

Even before I started school, I wanted to do a gap year. In my opinion, it's a great opportunity to take a year out from your studies to discover, reflect and get inspired before choosing the position you'll take as a graduate.
At first, the total freedom can be disconcerting. What path should you take when you no longer have any direction? I realised that before my second year at engineering school, I had followed the clear path that was offered to me.
